Tarot Basics

a self-paced course of study

Are you curious about Tarot?  Do you wonder if maybe you’re “psychic”?  Have you thought about taking a class to learn to read Tarot but haven’t seen a class offered that fits your schedule?  Here’s your opportunity to explore the Tarot, experiment with layouts and interpretations and see where this adventuring might take you.
This self-paced course is your key to quick and authoritative mastery of Tarot, and provides you with the knowledge to continue, at your own speed, to develop your new skills with self-assurance and safety.  Anyone willing to devote a bit of self-scheduled time to this course will quickly become familiar with the fundamentals of exercising and safely handling the special energy of Tarot.
Written with the beginner in mind, this easy-to-understand course includes guaranteed free support by Kate for a limited time by telephone or email.  The student who purchases this self-paced course not only receives easily understood written study and reference material but also personal guidance from its author for enough time to allow anyone to feel confident in their emerging competency,
Tarot Basics is just that:  a “nuts and bolts” series of three classes that will give you the foundation from which to take your interest in Tarot as far as you choose.  Each class is purchased individually.  You progress at your own pace, deciding for yourself when you are ready for the next installment.  All three classes are based on the Beginning Tarot class Kate has taught for ten years as an Informal Class at the University of Texas at Austin, but have been restructured to accommodate the solitary student.
All class materials are based on the Rider-Waite deck, but it is not mandatory that you use that deck.  Arthur Edward Waite was the first to put pictures on all 78 Tarot cards, not just the court  cards and the Greater Trumps, so any Tarot deck with pictures on all the cards derives from Waite to some degree.  It is recommended is that you work with a deck you really like.  Tarot can become a lifetime avocation, and it is better to enjoy the pictures you are looking at in the deck you are shuffling.
The First Class focuses on the Lesser Trumps (the suits of Tarot, the Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles).  It includes diagrams for the Celtic Cross Layout, definitions of the 56 cards that comprise the Lesser Trumps, and a Table of Correspondences.  This class involves the most memorization.  Lesser Trumps focus on the everyday aspects of life: work, friends, love, physical activity, thoughts and ideas.  The course begins here because it is possible to perform meaningful readings using only these 56 cards.
The Second Class focuses on the Greater Trumps, the “other 22 cards” in the deck that refer to our spiritual life, the paths we walk as we seek to become a better person, the Life Lessons we encounter on our journey.
The Third Class covers the reasons for using disclaimers, a grounding ritual, suggestions for questions to ask and to not ask, and other information the beginning Tarot reader may find useful.
Each class costs $30.00 and is purchased as a single unit which will be sent via e-mail as a PDF or other attachment upon receipt of payment.  Payment may be made by check or money order made out to “Kate Braun” and mailed to 1600 Chatham Ave., Austin, TX, 78723; payment may also be made via PayPal, using kate_braun2000@yahoo.com to indicate the account. If you pay by check or money order, please be sure to include the e-address to which the class should be sent.  If you pay by PayPal, the class will be sent to the e-address PayPal posts for you unless you specify a different e-address.
An unlimited number of questions relevant to each class will be answered for 2 weeks (14 days, not 14 business days) beginning with the day after the class is sent.  These questions may be posed in an e-mail sent to kate_braun2000@yahoo.com or in a phone call to 512-454-2293.  Once the course is completed (i.e., 2 weeks from the day after the third class is sent), one-on-one tutorials to assess your progress and make suggestions for continuing development will be available to you at a mutually convenient day and time for an hourly rate as often as you feel you need the assessment.
If you have questions not addressed here, please call 512-454-2293, or send an e-mail to kate_braun2000@yahoo.com .
Best wishes,
Kate
